Melanie Jayne Lynskey
Melanie Jayne Lynskey was born on the
16th of May in New Zealand. She is well-known for her unique role, with a soft
voice and a strong personality. She primarily works in films that are
independent. Her achievements include the New Zealand Film Award, and a
Hollywood Film Award and a Sundance Special Jury Award, in addition to Gotham
Award, Golden Nymph Award Critics' Choice Award as well as Screen Actors Guild
Award nominations. Her film debut was a teenage killer in Peter Jackson’s
Heavenly Creatures (1994). After her move to the United States, she built a
successful career in supporting roles in a range of small-budget and
large-budget features including Ever After (1998), Detroit Rock City, But I'm a
Cheerleader (both 1999), Coyote Ugly (2000), Abandon, Sweet Home Alabama (both
2002) Shattered Glass (2003), Flags of Our Fathers (2006), Away We Go, Up in
the Air, The Informant! Leaves of Grass (all 2009), Win Win (2011) and Seeking
an Friend for the End of the World, The Perks of Being a Wallflower (both 2012)
and They Came Together (2014) and Don't Look Up (2021). Lynskey received a
nomination for the Gotham Award as Breakthrough Performer and was praised by
critics for her character as a divorced, depressed woman in Hello I Must be
Going (2012). This was an important moment in her professional career. Her
subsequent lead roles included Happy Christmas, We'll Never Have Paris, Goodbye
to All That (all 2014), The Intervention, Rainbow Time, Little Boxes (all 2016)
I Don't Feel at Home in This World Anymore, And Then I Go (both 2017), Sadie
(2018) and Lady of the Manor (2021) have made her a prominent figure in the
American independent film scene. Lynskey's character of Rose in CBS the sitcom
Two and a Half Men (1903-2015) brought her recognition. She was the lead in
Togetherness from 2015-2016, and she was nominated by the Critics' Choice
Television Awards as the best Supporting Actress. Megan and Beatrice were her
voices on Cartoon Network's Over the Garden Wall (2014). (2016-2018). She also
starred as Molly Strand on the first season of Hulu's Castle Rock (2018) and
was Rosemary Thomson in the FX miniseries Mrs. America (2020).
