Paula Patton
Paula Patton was the daughter of Joyce
(Vanraden), and Charles Patton. Her father is African-American and her mother
is caucasian and is of German, English and Dutch roots. As a child in the area,
her family lived next to the 20th Century Fox lot. She was a huge movie buff
from the time she was a child. Her mom was a teacher , and her father worked as
an attorney. Paula claims she was able to get away from her mother by
pretending to be someone else when she was an infant. It's not surprising that
she participated in Hamilton Magnet Arts High School's high school productions.
Her most loved role was "Abigail" from "The Crucible". She
pursued her studies at the University of Southern California, where she
completed a summer course in film. At the time, she was given a three-month
project to create documentaries for PBS. Then, she was hired as a production
assistant for documentaries on TV and Howie Mandel's talk show. After a few
months she was able to create documentary segments for Medical Diaries 2000 on
Discovery Health Channel. Paula says she loves doing what she loves, but she
has a longing to be an actor. She was a star quickly and was featured in Hitch
(2006), Idlewild (2006) as well as Deja Vu (2006) as the female leading lady.
